Boston completes sweep at Baltimore

baltimore oriolesHanley Ramirez homered, David Price pitched seven strong innings, and Boston completed a four-game sweep in Baltimore with a 5-3 win Thursday night.

Ramirez hit his 29th homer, a solo shot in the seventh, and drove in two on a 2-for-5 night at the plate for the Red Sox (89-64), who won their eighth straight.

O’s starter Chris Tillman (16-6, 3.84 ERA, 1.27 WHIP) got a no-decision in a rough outing, giving up three runs on five hits in just an inning and a third of work, striking out two and walking three, needing 63 pitches to get five outs.

Reliever Vance Worley (2-2, 3.53 ERA, 1.37 WHIP) took the loss, giving up a run on one hit, striking out four and walking four in three and a third innings of work.

Baltimore (82-71) has lost six of eight, and is currently tied with Detroit for the second AL wild-card spot, with Houston a half-game back, Seattle a game and a half back, and the New York Yankees two and a half back.
