Beverley Street Studio School celebrates On the Road Again

beverley street studio schoolFor over 25 years, Staunton’s Beverley Street Studio School has been leading globe-trotting artists on adventures across the country and around the world.

On the Road Again celebrates their exciting achievements. The exhibit opened on April 27 at the school’s downtown gallery at 22 W. Beverley Street. There will be a public reception on May 4, 2018 from 5:30pm-7:30 pm and a Curator’s Talk at 6 pm, both of which are free and open to the public. Regular gallery hours are Tuesday through Thursday and Saturday 10am-5pm, Friday 10am-8pm, and Sunday 1pm-5pm. The BSSS Gallery is housed within the CoArt Gallery and the entire exhibition space is always free and visitors are always welcome.

On the Road Again will feature work from 26 artists. On view will be more than 50 paintings, drawings, photographs, sculpture, sketchbooks, and poetry, representing only a small portion of the hundreds of art works created during 49 BSSS trips. Also on display will be an array of photographs of artists hard at work in distant locales, as well as having fun as they enjoy relaxing dinners, stimulating conversations, and eye-opening sight-seeing.

Travel and art-making just seem to naturally go together. According to exhibit co-curator and frequent tour participant, Nancy Spahr, “finding myself in new locations and sharing experiences with interesting people awakens all my senses!” California artist and life-long traveler, Patty Biederman adds, “Making art in new settings adds special memories to any trip and provides a fresh approach to my painting, too.”

At the conclusion of the exhibit, gallery visitors will be able to learn about upcoming trips and be invited to share ideas for future travel adventures, combining art, tourism, and congenial times under the banner of the Beverley Street Studio School.
