lgo_mlb_baltimore_oriolesO’s drop series opener to Yankees, 6-5: A four-run seventh doomed Baltimore in a 6-5 loss to the New York Yankees on Monday.

The O’s (3-4) led 4-2 heading into the seventh after getting a nice effort from starting pitcher Wei-Yin Chin, who gave up two runs on four hits in six innings, with four strikeouts and a walk.

Reliever Tommy Hunter took the loss, the big blow being a two-out grand slam by pinch-hitter Stephen Drew.

Hunter gave up a pair of soft singles and a walk before Drew turned on a 95 mph 3-1 fastball for his second homer of the season.

The Orioles had 11 hits, three from Adam Jones, who hit his third homer of the season, a two-run shot in the sixth that put Baltimore briefly in control.

nationals_logoNats get four hits in another loss: Push the panic button. Washington scored four, but had just four hits in another anemic offensive performance, losing 9-4 on Monday at Boston.

The Red Sox put this one away early, leading 8-0 after three, lighting up Nats starter Jordan Zimmerman, who was charged with eight runs, seven earned, in two and a third innings of work.

Ryan Zimmerman and Danny Espinosa homered for the Nats (2-5).
