Beauty pageant in Elkton Aug. 16

The Miss and Master Valley of Virginia 2009 beauty pageant will be held on Sunday, Aug. 16, at 2 p.m. at the Elkton Area Community Center in Elkton.

All proceeeds will benefit the Center. The pageant is open to girls ages 0-11 months; 12-23 months; 2-3; 4-5; 6-8; 9-11; 12-14; 15-up; and boys 0-3.

Categories include Beauty, Photogenic, and Vogue (beauty of the face only). One winner and four runners-up will be selected. Crowns, trophies and custom-made sashes will be presented the winners.

Everyone will receive a trophy for entering. Trophies, crowns and sashes are on display at the Elkton Community Center.

Dressing rooms will be provided, and refreshments will be on sale with all proceeds to benefit the Center. No outside food will be allowed.

Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for children. One parent will be admitted free. Applications may be picked up at the Center or at all bridal locations in Harrisonburg.

All entry fees and completed entry forms must be received at the Center by 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14.
