lgo_mlb_baltimore_oriolesBaltimore scored three in the ninth to break a 2-2 tie and held on to defeat Toronto, 5-3, on Saturday.

Caleb Joseph delivered with a two-out RBI single to break the tie, scoring J.J. Hardy from second. Manny Machado followed with a two-run double scoring Ryan Flaherty and Joseph to extend the lead to 5-2.

Zach Britton had a bit of a scary bottom of the ninth trying to close it out. Danny Valencia and Jose Reyes led off the inning with singles, and with one out, Jose Bautista singled to score Valencia. Britton got Edwin Encarnacion to ground into a 4-6-3 double play to end it, and close out his 19th save.

Darren O’Day (3-0) was credited with the win after pitching his way into and then out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the eighth.

Kevin Gausman, in his first MLB appearance since May 6, went five innings in his first start of the season, giving up two runs on four hits, striking out one and walking one.
