Baltimore drops 6-4 decision to Boston

baltimore oriolesBoston got to O’s starter Kevin Gausman early in a 6-4 Red Sox win over Baltimore on Wednesday.

Gausman (0-4, 4.14 ERA) didn’t make it past the third inning, giving up six runs on seven hits, the big blow coming in the third, on a Hanley Ramirez three-run homer.

Baltimore (37-27) finally got on the board in the seventh on a two-run homer by Adam Jones (.242/.292/.432), his 12th of the season.

The Orioles got closer in the eighth on back-to-back RBI hits by Matt Wieters (.261/.310/.422) and Jonathan Schoop (.268/.299/.463).

Craig Kimbrel (15 saves, 2.13 ERA) closed things out for the Red Sox (37-27) with a 1-2-3 ninth.

Steven Wright (8-4, 2.22 ERA) got the win for Boston, giving up three runs on six hits in seven and a third innings, striking out four and walking one.
