Snow is tapering off in central and southern portions of the Shenandoah Valley leaving many roads snow covered. Travel is not advised in the area. The northern portion of the valley including Frederick, Warren and Clarke counties do not have snow cover, but south of this area has hazardous travel conditions.
Crews from the Virginia Department of Transportation and contractors continue to plow and treat roads. VDOT will continue with 24-hour operations with crews working 12-hour shifts.
Here are the road conditions as of 10 p.m. in the Virginia Department of Transportation Staunton District:
- Interstate 64 – Moderate conditions in Alleghany, Rockbridge and Augusta counties.
- Interstate 66 – Clear conditions in Warren County.
- Interstate 81 – Moderate conditions in Rockbridge and Augusta counties. Minor conditions in Rockingham and Shenandoah counties. Clear conditions in Frederick County.
- Primary roads – Moderate conditions in Highland, Bath, Alleghany, Rockbridge, Augusta, Rockingham, Shenandoah and Page counties. Clear conditions in Frederick, Warren and Clarke counties.
- Secondary roads – Severe conditions in Alleghany and Rockbridge counties. Moderate conditions in Highland, Bath, Augusta, Rockingham, Shenandoah and Page counties. Clear conditions are in Frederick, Warren and Clarke counties.
