newspaperIn his candid and thought provoking novel, “Riverbend,” author Philip Cobbs takes readers to places they may have feared to venture and safely returns them home.

The United States Civil War made the nation take a solemn look at itself and forced Tom to do the same. He is compelled to ask himself the same profound questions that soldiers in every conflict must ask, but for him, the answers are harder to glean. Readers will follow his epic journey of discovery as he breaches boundaries to awaken a new understanding of himself. This coming-of-age saga unfolds on the front lines and behind the lines as Tom struggles to grasp the true meaning of family. Join him as he searches for his identity in a world that is turned upside down by conflict, and walk with him as he bravely transits the great schisms of life, searching for difficult answers.

Published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises, the book is available through bookstores nationwide, from the publisher atwww.tatepublishing.com/bookstore, or by visiting barnesandnoble.com or amazon.com.

Cobbs is a Navy veteran and part-time farmer who works the land that has belonged to his family for more than 150 years. He explores what it means to live in a divided state. Virginia, the scene of intense fighting during the war between the states, is his home. This is his first novel, and he draws deeply upon his personal experience.
