Augusta County Sheriff’s Office issues scam alert

Contributors

augusta-county2editsThe Augusta County Sheriff’s Office is warning local residents of a scam involving callers purporting to be taking a telephone survey on domestic violence.

The callers say they are conducting the survey on behalf of Augusta Health, then asking for personal information on household income, demographic information, the presence of weapons in the home and the sexual preference of homeowners.

Augusta Health is not involved in any ongoing surveys of this nature.

The Sheriff’s Office is alerting local residents to be wary when asked to give out this kind of personal information.
