Augusta County extends Internet service survey

augusta countyResidents and businesses have actively completed the internet survey to assist in developing a plan to show the need for internet service in Augusta County.

A total of 1,450 responses have been received to date. Due to the outcry of interest, County officials have extended the survey deadline to June 10.

Some key results to date:

  • 10% do not have internet service, mostly due to service not being available in their area
  • 50% were satisfied with the speed of their service
  • 20% have a home based business or telework
  • 50% use the internet for completing school assignments and communicating with a teacher
  • 25% recently used the internet to take an online course

Let the County know where you fall in the need for reliable high speed internet. Completed surveys qualify for the following raffle prizes:

  • $150 Walmart gift card
  • $50 Outback gift card
  • $30 Zeus Movie Theater gift card
  • 2 Tickets for Day Trip of your choice through Augusta County Parks & Rec (valued at $100 each)

Citizens and businesses are encouraged to take the survey online at www.co.augusta.va.us. Postcards and surveys will be mailed to businesses and families of school aged children to further gather information.

Paper surveys continue to be available for pickup at the Augusta County Government Center and County libraries. A kiosk to complete the survey online is also accessible at the Augusta County Government Center and Deerfield Fire Department.

The surveys will be collected through June 10.
