Artists invited to apply for 2019 Crozet Arts and Crafts Festivals

Crozet Arts and Crafts FestivalsThe Crozet Arts and Crafts Festivals are getting ready for spring. Although the first Festival of 2019 will not take place until Mother’s Day weekend, May 11 & 12 next year, the Festival’s planning has already started. Artists are invited to apply for the May and October Festivals starting now and with a January 30 application deadline.

Artists and handcrafters from around the country apply to take part in the award-winning Crozet Spring and Fall Arts and Crafts Festivals each year. With around 150-200 applications received for each show, competition is steep for the approximately 120 booth spaces available. While many Artists return each year, nearly all are required to apply each year and spaces are not guaranteed. The Festival recruits an independent panel of jurors each year, generally other Artists or arts professionals, who have a week after the jury deadline to view and score each application according to photos and descriptions of the work and the Artist’s process. The highest scoring Artists are chosen from each media category to take part in the Festivals.

Although a smaller Festival compared to many around the country, the Crozet Arts and Crafts Festivals enjoy a friendly and profitable reputation among Artists, and are an anticipated destination for many shoppers and visitors who return each year to greet their favorite Artists, shop for unique creations, and support the non-profit, community owned and operated Claudius Crozet Park. In addition to the Fine Art and Craft Exhibitors, the Festivals also feature makers of personal care products, culinary artists, craft demonstrations, live music, Virginia beer on draft and Virginia wines by the glass, and a special area with activities for children.

As 2018 draws to a close, the promoters of the Crozet Arts and Crafts Festival are thinking of Spring and Fall and anticipating another year of wonderful, family-friendly, celebrations of incredible handcrafted works.

Information about the Crozet Arts and Crafts Festivals, including applications to apply, is available online at www.crozetfestival.com.
