The hard-to-get-a-handle-on winter storm hitting Virginia today is now expected to bring 6 to 12 inches of snow to Augusta County, Staunton and Waynesboro, according to the latest report from the National Weather Service.

The area remains under a Winter Storm Warning through 11 p.m. Saturday.

The snow is expected to be heaviest from the midmorning-to-late-afternoon hours today.

As of 10:15 a.m., Downtown Waynesboro had seen 5 inches of snow.
