Annette Hyde set as Democratic Party nominee in 24th Senate District

annette hydeMadison County resident Annette Hyde was named the Democratic Party nominee for the 24th District State Senate seat on Thursday. She will face either Sen. Emmett Hanger or his primary challenger, Tina Freitas of Culpeper, in November.

“We’re not being served by our current legislators,” Hyde said, “It’s time for new leaders to take on problems and provide solutions for issues like internet access, health care, education and the environment.”

The 24th Senate District covers Augusta County (including the cities of Staunton and Waynesboro), Greene County, Madison County and parts of Rockingham and Culpeper Counties.

Hyde has a BA in Communications/Journalism from the University of Texas at Arlington and has lived in Virginia since 1990. She has been a yoga teacher for almost 20 years and has two adult sons. She is a member of Friends of the Madison County Library and the Culpeper Branch of the NAACP.
