Altenergy Staunton office showcases the power of solar in real-time

earth-newA Staunton solar energy company believes actions speak louder than words when persuading potential customers that solar is the way to go, so in early March, Altenergy, Incorporated deployed an awning style solar array on their offices at 331 N. Lewis St. as a real-time demonstration of what they design and install. Their intent is not only to give the public a visual reminder of what they do, but to generate electricity for their building and raise awareness in the community about the future of solar.

“Educating homeowners, businesses, non-profits and municipalities about the long-term benefits of investing in custom turnkey solar power is part of our business objective, not just to sell systems, but to increase understanding of why it’s a good decision for everyone. With earth day just around the corner, we felt getting our awning array installed would definitely remind people that solar is an excellent personal, economic and socially-responsible choice,” said Joe Sadonis, Branch Manager of Altenergy, Inc. in Staunton.

Sadonis adds there are still a number of misconceptions about the affordability of solar as an energy alternative, so he is offering talks to local community groups and associations as a way of spreading the solar message. He recently provided information to the Augusta Home Builders Association and will be speaking on “Adapting Solar Energy to Existing and Historic Properties” at Historic Staunton Foundation’s Preservation Brown Bag Discussion on April 4th at noon. The event is free and open to the public, and will take place at the R.R. Smith Center, 20 S. New St., Staunton.
