Avalon Technologies, an industry leader in emergency call and communications technology for the senior care industry, has promoted Ron Bodnar to the position of General Manager, company officials announced today.
Bodnar, whose tenure with the Reading, Pa.,-based Avalon dates back to the company’s founding in 2004, will be responsible for managing all day to day operations and for crafting a strategic vision for the company’s future.
Avalon Technologies uses a web-based system to provide communications services for senior housing facilities, including emergency call systems, administration phone systems and resident’s phone systems. With a staff of professional programmers, Avalon specializes in integrating the Avalon software package with existing systems and providing revenue for facilities by generating billing for resident’s long distance service.
“Ron is a dynamic leader with a wealth of industry experience,” said Jack Gulati, owner of Avalon Technologies. “He has worked hard to build the Avalon system into a peerless offering that senior housing companies are finding hard to resist.”
Bodnar began his career in the security and communications industry as owner of an alarm company with branches in five states. After holding the position of Northeast Regional Manager with Criticon International and a partnership in Security Partners of Lancaster, Bodnar began working with Gulati, owner of TeleAlarm, which purchased the Avalon software in 2001. Avalon Technologies became an independent company in 2004.
“I get a great deal of satisfaction from what we do every day at Avalon,” Bodnar said. “We’re helping to make senior housing safer for residents while making the facilities more economically sound. Risk managers and chief financial officers at senior housing facilities are some of my biggest fans. ”
Bodnar said his goal is to make Avalon Technologies the premier emergency call systems provider in the industry. The Avalon system allows calls to be sent to the pagers and cell phones of the nursing staff, with the calls forwarded to backup staff members if a response is not recorded in a designated time frame.
Because the system is web based, reports on call activity and response time are easily generated and the system can be used for administration and resident call services with resident billing that makes the service a profit center for senior housing facilities.
Bodnar lives in Charlottesville with his wife. He has a son and two daughters, as well as seven grandchildren.
