acc footballThe ACC announced a series of suspensions and public reprimands resulting from an incident that occurred at the conclusion of the NC State at North Carolina football game on Saturday, Nov. 24.

Following a review of the available footage provided by the television broadcast and coaches video from both institutions, the ACC has imposed suspensions and public reprimands on the following student-athletes:

North Carolina: #3 Dominique Ross, #5 Patrice Rene, #29 J.K. Britt, #49 Jeremiah Clarke
NC State: #7 Freddie Phillips, Jr., #53 Tyler Jones, #67 Justin Witt

The league office utilized the NCAA Playing Rules related to fighting as the foundation for the suspensions which results in disqualification for a half. Because the conduct occurred at the conclusion of the game, each student-athlete with eligibility remaining will be suspended for one half of the next game to be played by each respective institution. This includes NC State’s game versus East Carolina on Dec. 1, and the first game of the 2019 season for North Carolina versus South Carolina on Aug. 31 in Charlotte. The respective institution will determine which half each student-athlete will be held out during its next game.
