Below is information on a number of initiatives surrounding the 2016 New York Life ACC Tournament. For more information on each, please click the link in the title.
The tournament will begin on Tuesday and will conclude with a primetime championship game on Saturday. All games will be nationally televised on ESPN or ESPN2 and the ACC Network. The ACC Digital Network will capture the Must See Moments, unique performance plays and sound with all highlights available at theACC.com.
Following each game, postgame press conferences with the head coach and selected players will be streamed live on theACC.com. Fans can view these at theacc.co/mbb16pressers. The postgame press conference following the championship game will also be available on WatchESPN.
The Official ACC Tournament App can be found as a free download in the Apple iTunes and Google Play stores. The app consists of a variety of extensive content designed to enhance the game-day experience by delivering schedules, maps, live game radio broadcast audio, live game scores and stats, real-time social streams and more.
Mascots Visit with TAPS Families
The ACC mascots will visit with families through the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) on Monday, March 7. During the visit at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, families will have an ice cream party, participate in basketball drills and have the opportunity to have their photo taken with their favorite ACC mascots.
The ACC mascots will visit with children at Kimball and Orr Elementary Schools from 12:00-3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8 and Hart Middle School from 2:30-3:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 10. During the visits, children will have the opportunity to play basketball and take photos with their favorite ACC mascots. The schools were selected through Most Valuable Kids, which offers children’s organizations access to professional and collegiate sports and entertainment events through an online ticket donation and reward system.
The ACC continued an initiative to recognize local Teachers of the Year by inviting them to ACC Championship events. The Washington D.C. 2016 Teacher of the Year finalists and their guests were invited to attend the championship game of the New York Life ACC Tournament.
The ACC Men’s Basketball Legends Luncheon will be held at noon on Friday, March 11, at the Marriott Marquis in Washington D.C. The class of Legends will also be honored during a ceremony at halftime of the first semifinal game that evening. More information on this year’s Legends class can be found at theACC.com/legends.
Wounded Warrior Project, National Anthem & Color Guard
The ACC is once again collaborating with Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) to invite WWP injured service members and their guests to the championship game of the New York Life ACC Tournament. The two invited Warriors and family members will have VIP hospitality in the arena and Championship Game tickets. In addition, these two heroes will take part in a special pregame ceremony on the court, while the colors will be presented by a joint-service Color Guard.
The ceremony will be preceded by the singing of God Bless America by the T.C. Williams High School Choir. The National Anthem will then be performed by members of the United States Army Band, Master Sergeant Bob McDonald and Master Sergeant Caleb Green.
