Holidays on Main Street, the annual holiday festival in Downtown Harrisonburg, returns this year on Friday, Dec. 3.

Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance invites the community to Court Square beginning at 4 p.m. for free carriage rides, hot cocoa, wandering carolers, food vendors, and more. Visit Santa and Mrs. Clause in Bank of America. Visit downtown shops featuring Holiday Gift Blitz specials.

This year, all aspects of this event will be free, thanks to a title sponsorship by The Colonnade Apartments and additional support from Arby’s Harrisonburg and Wal-Mart Logistics.

“Carriage rides, Santa, a big parade, hot cocoa, and the JMU Marching Royal Dukes … I can’t think of a more festive way to kick off the holiday season with our community” says Kris Hensley, special events manager for Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance.

Following the court square festivities, the annual Holiday Parade, organized by Harrisonburg Parks and Recreation Department, will begin at 7 p.m. from the Municipal Building and will travel north on Main Street to the county administration offices. The celebration will continue after the parade on Court Square for holiday music from the JMU Marching Royal Dukes and a tree-lighting by Vice- Mayor Richard Baugh.
