policecar3At 5:32 p.m. Thursday (May 22), Virginia State Police Trooper R.C. Martin responded to Schneider Community Park in stuarts draft. A 6-year-old Lyndhurst, Va., girl had been struck by a vehicle in the parking lot at the park.

The girl had leaned down to pick up something and was out of line of sight as the driver of a 1996 Nissan Altima began to back out of a parking space. The Altima bumped into the girl and stopped immediately. The girl was knocked to the ground of the gravel lot, but was not run over by the car.

The driver of the Altima, a 33-year-old Lyndhurst man, was not charged in the incident.
