newspaperJump-start your spring with a don’t miss event, the 56th Shenandoah Antiques Expo, Friday, May 8 (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and Saturday, May 9 (8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.) at the Augusta Expoland (I-64, Exit 91) in Fishersville, Va. Heritage Promotions, based in Lynchburg, stages the show.

“Collectors show up by sunrise on Friday to wait for the gates to open at 9 a.m.,” Raymond Stokes of Heritage Promotions said. “They comb exhibition halls, barns, tents and stalls—and hit gold—even off trucks in the parking lot.”

The largest indoor/outdoor show in the Mid-Atlantic and according to a recent first-time shopper from New York, “the best shopping on the Atlantic Coast,” the show features 18th and 19th-century American and English period antiques plus a trove of vintage Americana, jewelry, silver, glassware, primitives, rugs and mid-century modern pieces. There is something for everybody; the professional eye to the modest collector: intriguing collectibles include doorstops; stoneware; toys; Civil War memorabilia; vintage, hard-to-find hardware and restoration pieces and much, much more.

The Friday $10 two-day pass gives you first choice at the many treasures to be found. Passes for Saturday are $5 and all passes include free parking. For more information go to: http://heritagepromotions.net.

Location: Augusta Expo, 277 Expo Road, Fishersville, VA 22939 (I-64/Exit 91). For directions during event: 540-337-2552.
