businessRetirement is great, for the first time in your life you can do whatever you want with no restraints on your time. Doing whatever you want can be expensive though. Retirement is a time for you to live the life you have always wanted to, it isn’t a time to compromise because of money.

Luckily, for you, with time on your side, you can make a bit of extra money so that you can do the things you want to do. Here are some ideas to get you started.

  1. Take surveys online

Taking surveys can be a great way to make some money in your spare time. All you need is a laptop and a spare few minutes here and there to get started. You won’t earn much per survey but it does all add up. There are plenty of survey sites out there that you could sign up to; you will find details of some of the best ones here.

  1. Get a retirement job

There are many employers out there who are delighted to hire retirees. They love that you they no ties, which makes them flexible and they also love the depth of experience that they bring into their organization. Why not make the most of this and get yourself a part-time job to earn yourself some extra money?

You might even be able to get a job you have always wanted to do but couldn’t when you were younger because of financial constraints. If you need help finding one, you could have a read of our blog post about the benefits of working with a recruitment agency.

  1. Sell your stuff online

You could spend some time decluttering and selling your stuff on any one of the online second-hand market places in order to earn yourself a bit of extra cash. You could also consider alternatives such as selling your life insurance policy. If your family no longer need a large financial settlement after your death, there may be buyers out there willing to pay cash for your existing policy. It’s certainly better than just allowing it to lapse.

  1. Find unclaimed money

You might have heard tales of people finding out that they had thousands of dollars in a bank account somewhere that they had completely forgotten about. It sounds ridiculous but it does happen. It is easy to forget where we have squirreled money away as we go through life. Luckily, it is easy to find lost bank accounts using free services that search for accounts you no longer use. You never know, your fortune might be out there somewhere.

  1. Offer your services

You could get out there into your neighbourhood and offer you services to make a bit of extra cash.

Perhaps you were an accountant who can offer to look after the books for small local businesses or maybe you have a green finger and could offer gardening services.

Whatever your skills are, getting out there and sharing them could offer you the financial freedom to do the things that you really want to do whilst also helping you meet new people.
