Shenandoah Valley Art CenterThe Shenandoah Valley Art Center, during the month of March, is featuring, 40 Under 40. In this fourth annual show, the art center is highlighting the artwork of young and emerging artists.

The exhibit presents eighty curated pieces of art from an open artist call by invitation of the SVAC Exhibit Committee to Virginia artists less than 40 years of age.  The artwork presented in the exhibit includes sculpture, mixed media, photography and paintings, among others.  Many of the works push the envelope and are not traditional in subject, method, or process.  Some of the artists are formally educated and some are self-taught, with a great range of talent, skill, and ability represented.  Artists presented in the exhibit are Emily Allred, Troy Argenbright, Jayme Bauguess, Lou Haney, Kurt Kindermann, Kenneth Lecky, Jessica Martinosky, Jeremiah Morris, Erin Murray, Zachary Nafzinger, Jaimie Phillips, Jessie Shelburne, and Spencer Yancey.

An Opening Reception will be held March 5, 6:00-8:00 p.m. and the public is encouraged to come and meet the artists.

In the Upstairs Hallway Gallery, a tribute to art education features an exhibition of artwork by Waynesboro Public Schools art students.  The exhibit celebrates Youth Art Month, a national initiative promoting art and art education for kids.  Exhibiting artwork in a professional gallery is an important experience for the exposure of young artists to the world of art. A special Opening Reception will be held on March 10, 5:00 – 6:00 p.m.  The Members’ Gallery will feature photographs that explore and capture moments of the artists’ worlds.
