4 fun Date Night ideas

Contributors

date nightKeeping regular dates with your partner is important, not just in the early stages to get to know them better but for shared experiences later in the relationship too. Dating helps to keep the romance alive and they also make for a fun break in our otherwise busy weeks. But finding new and exciting ideas for what to do on all those dates can be more difficult than it first seems. The following four ideas are all brilliant alternatives to the standard date night to guarantee you’ll have a good time.

Check out your local comedy club

Your local comedy club is the perfect setting for a great night out. It’s an affordable evening that won’t break the bank, there are drinks to enjoy, and, with any luck, the acts will ensure you’ll have plenty of laughs as well. The beauty of choosing a comedy night is that you’ll both get to find new acts to make you giggle and it’s a light-hearted evening where the pressure to entertain is on someone else, so it’s perfect for first dates where you both might be a bit nervous.  Just make sure you don’t sit too close to the stage to avoid becoming part of the acts as well!

Recreate a class at home

If you like the idea of taking a cooking class, why not recreate the experience in the comfort of your own home? Find a video or recipe online and spend time learning how to cook it together – when you’re done, you can enjoy the results of your hard work with a tasty meal that you’ve cooked from scratch, you can even make things easier for you, using a tool like InHouse Manager. It’s a nice alternative to eating at a restaurant, as well as being more budget-friendly too.

Escape the room

Escaping the room is an adrenalin-inducing experience that may well have appealed to you and your friends, but for a unique date why not take on the challenge together? These purpose-designed puzzle rooms are dotted all around the country and the goal is simple – you get locked in and have to work out how to escape together in order to be released. Whether you’re in the early stages of your relationship or you’ve been together for years, this is a sure-fire way to bond and will make for some great memories for the future.

Amp up the competition

A bit of healthy competition never hurt anyone, so why not spend the night playing board games or challenging each other to competitions in silly activities like Pac-man, cards or foosball? It’s a great way to unwind after a busy day and the nostalgia-triggering activities will help you feel more connected to your partner. You can even make it a challenge in itself to find new things to compete in, from pizza eating contests to ice skating. And you don’t have to confine yourselves to staying home for the night – pick a few board games and take them with you to your local pub or coffee shop for more of a special night out.
