• Mike Tobey’s tip-in with 1:46 to play in overtime gave Virginia the lead and it held on to beat Maryland 61-58 on March 10, 2013.
• Akil Mitchell led Virginia with 17 points and Joe Harris had 15 and Tobey 13.
• Nick Faust led the Terrapins with 15 points and Dez Wells finished with 12 and 12 rebounds.
• Faust scored 10 of his 13 points during a 19-2 run early in the game and Maryland almost made it last, not letting Virginia get back to even until Harris’ 3-pointer with just 1:37 remaining.

Virginia has won 10 of its last 11 games and looks to win its eighth straight overall. The Cavaliers have defeated Florida State (78-66), North Carolina (76-61), Virginia Tech (65-45), Notre Dame (68-53), Pittsburgh (48-45), Boston College (77-67) and Georgia Tech (64-45) since their 69-65 loss at Duke on Jan. 13. A Virginia win against Georgia Tech would match its 11-1 ACC start in the 1981-82 season.
The Cavaliers’ success has been highlighted by their top-ranked defense, rebounding and balanced scoring. The Cavaliers are yielding 55.6 points per game and grabbing 55.1 percent of the rebounds, ruling the glass in 19 of 24 games. UVa also ranks 10th in the nation in field goal percentage defense at 38.1 percent.
Virginia is averaging 66.5 points per game, marking its highest total under head coach Tony Bennett. Virginia is averaging 24.3 bench points and has scored 43.6 percent of its points in the paint.
UVa sports a balanced scoring attack, led by Malcolm Brogdon and All-ACC performer Joe Harris. Brogdon leads the team at 12.1 points per game, while Harris is second at 11.3 ppg. Versatile guard Justin Anderson, who had 13 points against Boston College, has recorded 9.5 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. Anthony Gill, who has reached double figures in each of the last two games, has registered 7.8 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. Mike Tobey has chipped in 7.0 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. Akil Mitchell has added 6.8 points and a team-best 6.8 rebounds per game. Mitchell is tied for third in the ACC at 8.3 rebounds per game during league play.
