No. 14 UVa. (22-5, 13-1 ACC) opens its three-game homestand against Notre Dame (14-13, 5-9 ACC) on Saturday, Feb. 22. Tipoff at John Paul Jones Arena (14,593) is set for 2 p.m.

RecycleMania Challenge
University of Virginia student volunteers will try to achieve a level of “zero waste” at the Virginia-Notre Dame game. UVa Dining, Virginia Athletics and the Office for Sustainability have teamed up to convert disposable items generated at the game to compostable or recyclable options and to ensure the waste is properly sorted and minimal materials are sent to the landfill. The University will be ranked in several ways, including per capita recycling, composting and waste minimization.

Malcolm Brogdon tallied 16 points, seven rebounds, six assists and a career-high five steals in UVa’s 68-53 win at Notre Dame on Jan. 28.
Mike Tobey added 14 points and four rebounds and London Perrantes added five assists, one steal and no turnovers in 29 minutes.
• Demetrius Jackson and Zach Auguste had 10 points apiece for Notre Dame.
• The Cavaliers shot 53.8 percent from the field and tallied an ACC-high 29 points off of 20 Fighting Irish turnovers.

Virginia is ranked No. 14 in the latest AP poll, marking its highest ranking since a No. 10 ranking on Feb. 4, 2002.
• No. 14/13 UVa is ranked for the third-straight week after not being ranked for 11 consecutive weeks.
• Virginia’s No. 24 preseason AP ranking marked its first since being ranked No. 11 to start the 2001-02 season.
• The Cavaliers returned to the rankings this season for the first time since Feb. 27, 2012.

Last Time Out
• Justin Anderson and Joe Harris made consecutive 3-pointers to cap Virginia’s rally from an 11-point, second-half deficit in a 57-53 victory over Virginia Tech Tuesday.
• The Cavaliers outscored the Hokies 23-6 after falling behind 40-29 with just more than 14 minutes remaining.
Malcolm Brogdon led Virginia with 12 points and London Perrantes had 11.

About the Cavaliers
Virginia has won 13 of its last 14 games and looks to win its 11th straight overall. A Virginia win against Notre Dame would give the Cavaliers a school-record 14 ACC wins.

The Cavaliers’ success has been highlighted by their top-ranked defense, rebounding and balanced scoring. The Cavaliers are yielding 55.5 points per game and grabbing 54.9 percent of the rebounds, ruling the glass in 20 of 27 games. UVa also ranks ninth in the nation in field goal percentage defense at 38.6 percent.

Virginia is averaging 65.8 points per game, marking its highest total under head coach Tony Bennett. Virginia is averaging 23.1 bench points and has scored 43.8 percent of its points in the paint.

UVa sports a balanced scoring attack, led by Malcolm Brogdon and All-ACC performer Joe Harris. Brogdon leads the team at 12.3 points per game, while Harris is second at 11.6 ppg. Brogdon has a career-best 14-game double figures scoring streak. He ranks first in the ACC in free throw percentage (87.5%), fifth in field goal percentage (44.9%), tied for fifth in steals (1.50 spg) and 11th in scoring (14.9 ppg) during league play.

Versatile guard Justin Anderson, who nailed a pair of key 3-pointers down the stretch at Virginia Tech, has recorded 9.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. Anthony Gill has registered 7.6 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. Mike Tobey has chipped in 7.0 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. Akil Mitchell has added 6.9 points and a team-best 6.9 rebounds per game. Mitchell is third in the ACC at 8.3 rebounds per game during league play. Freshman point guard London Perrantes ranks first in ACC action in assist-to-turnover ratio (4.92) and fifth in assists (4.21 apg).
