The top-ranked UVa. baseball team plays its final home game of the 2014 regular season at 6 p.m. Tuesday when VCU comes to Davenport Field.
Prior to the game at 5:45 p.m., Virginia will honor former head coach Dennis Womack, who retired from the University at the end of April following 36 years of service.

Odds and Ends
• Virginia are tied for second nationally in fielding (.982) and fifth in ERA (2.18).
• Since 2004, the Cavaliers have a 103-18-1 record against in-state opponents, including a 12-2 mark this year.
• Virginia joins FSU and UNC as only ACC schools to record nine 40-win seasons in the last 11 years.
• UVa and Louisiana-Lafayette are the lone teams to not have a losing weekend this year.
• UVa is 13-3 in one-run games, including 11-2 in ACC play.

Virginia-VCU Series
Virginia holds a 37-19 lead in its all-time series with VCU. UVa has won the last 14 meetings with the Rams, all during the tenure of the current coaching staff (since 2004). VCU’s last win against UVa came in 2003. UVa earned a 5-4 win in 10 innings on April 22 at The Diamond.
Playing It Close to the Vest
Virginia has played plenty of games down to the wire. UVa is 13-3 in one-run games, marking the second-most one-run victories during the O’Connor tenure (14 in 2004).
The Cavaliers are 22-4 in games decided by three runs or fewer. UVa also is 5-0 in extra-inning affairs.
Cavaliers Wrap Up Home Slate
Tuesday is Virginia’s regular-season home finale. The Cavaliers are 28-3 at home this year and finished 13-2 in ACC play. UVa is 63-8 at home over the past two seasons.
O’Connor Notches 500th Coaching Win
Virginia head coach Brian O’Connor earned his 500th career win Friday against Georgia Tech. O’Connor is 502-170-2 at UVa. By winning his 500th game in his 672nd career contest, O’Connor became the second-fastest in ACC history to reach 500 wins.
Florida State’s Mike Martin reached 500 wins in 664 games upon the Seminoles’ entry into the ACC in 1992. O’Connor ranks second in career wins at UVa behind Dennis Womack (594).
Virginia to Honor Womack Tuesday
UVa will honor the Cavaliers’ former head coach Dennis Womack in ceremonies prior to the game Tuesday. Womack also will throw out the first pitch. Womack retired from UVa at the end of April after 36 years of service; he most recently served as the Assistant AD for Facilities.
He won 594 games while serving as head coach from 1981-2003. Under Womack, UVa won the 1996 ACC Championship and twice participated in the NCAA Tournament. He was named the 1985 ACC Coach of the Year.
Noting VCU
Coming off a weekend series loss at UMass, VCU has dropped four of its last five games. VCU boasts a .299 team batting average and is led by Chris Ayers at .346, as the Rams have five starters batting at least .300. Vimael Machin is hitting .333, while James Bunn in batting .325 with a team-high 10 stolen bases.
VCU’s pitching staff owns a 3.73 ERA, and the Rams are fielding at a .970 clip.

UVa finishes the regular season Thursday through Saturday (May 15-17) with a three-game ACC series at Wake Forest. The postseason then begins as the ACC Baseball Championship runs May 20-25 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
