john cenaJohn Cena about to go on the shelf? Lots of talk backstage about John Cena this week, and it’s not good. Cena reportedly is nursing lingering neck and shoulder injuries that are bad enough to have some worrying that he might need extended time off to get healthy again.

Cena took a brief bit of time after after being squashed in the main event at SummerSlam and was said to look refreshed backstage upon his return.

Booking change for Raw affects Wyatt: According to published reports, Bray Wyatt had originally been booked for this week’s Raw in a spot that would have had him intervening at the end of a tag-team match involving the Wyatt Family and Big Show/Mark Henry ending with Bray catching Show in a Sister Abigail.

The idea there was that Wyatt manhandling Show would demonstrate how strong a force Wyatt can be. Good plan there.

Then Vince McMahon himself intervened and made the night about showcasing John Cena, whom he reportedly felt was weakened with fans by the squash loss to Lesnar at SummerSlam.

What’s up with Ryback? First the Enigmatic One tweeted about taking time off to get some things fixed, leading to speculation that Ryback had suffered some sort of injury. Then it was played up on TV that he had been injured, then it was said backstage that no, not injured, just storyline.

The backstage talk has gone back and forth since as to whether Ryback is hurt, taking time off, blowing off steam, was abducted by aliens, and related.

Zeb Coulter update: Zeb Coulter, our good friend Dutch Mantell, was noticeably missing from Jack Swagger’s side for the Swagger-Rusev match on Raw this week. Coulter is telling people that he was injured by the stiff kick delivered to him by Rusev at SummerSlam.
