Wrestling Beat: Rock return? CM Punk now on WWE alumni page, Bobby Lashley

the rockReturn of The Rock? Dwayne Johnson appeared on ESPN’s Sports Nation on Tuesday and told host Michelle Beadle that he would “love” to wrestle again, and that he’s talked to Vince McMahon about a return to WWE.

The Rock said he had been slated to return for WrestleMania 30 with a program planned to have him face Brock Lesnar, but that the plans for that were dropped due to his in-ring injury at WrestleMania 29 in his match against John Cena.

Lesnar, of course, went on to face The Undertaker, break The Streak, and move in the direction of a feud with Cena that is expected to end with him winning the WWE title at SummerSlam.

The Rock did leave the door open to a return in the interview.

CM Punk now officially a WWE alumni: WWE.com now has CM Punk on its Alumni page, leading us to believe that he is officially off the roster.

Which he very well may be, and probably is. Or this is just part of an elaborate ruse to get us to think tht he is done with WWE, and then one Sunday night down the road, maybe SummerSlam, maybe further on, his music will hit, and …

TNA champ Bobby Lashley retuning to MMA: TNA world champ Bobby Lashley will make his Bellator debut on Sept. 5 against Josh Burns at Bellator 123.

TNA star King Mo will also fight on the card.

Interesting move, and risky, on its face. TNA gets exposure having its champ on a “legit” fight card, but there’s always a chance that he could lose, at which point the marquee value of the appearance erodes a bit.
