Woodrow Wilson Student Leadership Program kicks off on Saturday

woodrow wilsonThe Education Department of the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library will host 24 students representing 10 area schools on Saturday for the first in a series of four events in the Woodrow Wilson Student Leadership program.

These students, from grades 10, 11, and 12 were selected based on leadership roles, academic standing, and teacher recommendations.  Susan Laser, Etiquette Essentials LLC, will begin the day with “Interview Skills for Success”.   Martha Walker, PhD, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Mary Baldwin University, will follow with “Gender Roles in Leadership.”

Following lunch, the students will hear from Kai Kennedy, Director of Clinical Education, Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences as she discusses “Planting Seeds of Global Engagement.”

The day will conclude with an interactive program, “Speak Up! Finding Your Voice for Leadership” with Aaron Crosby, Actor, Director, and Teacher.

The Leadership Program is in its second year and is made possible by funding provided by Bankers Insurance, Daikin Applied Americas, Inc., Elk Logistics, Farmers & Merchants Bank, First Bank & Trust, Hollister, Inc., and James River Equipment.
