wm-logoAfter opening its season with a lopsided 34-7 victory at Lafayette on Saturday evening, the William and Mary football team garnered a No. 25 national ranking in this week’s FCS Coaches Poll.

W&M is receiving votes in the other major FCS national poll released by STATS. Both polls are available here.

The Tribe posted an impressive all-around performance in the win at Lafayette, as it made big plays in all three phases of the game. The defense held LC scoreless in the second half, forced two turnovers and allowed just 332 yards, while the offense piled up nearly 500 yards of total offense. Additionally, the special teams blocked a field goal and returned it 55 yards en route to helping set up a touchdown.

After a bye week next Saturday, the Tribe will return to action when it plays at Virginia on Sept. 19.
