Waynesboro Police investigate Dollar Tree burglary

policecar3The Waynesboro Police is requesting assistance in its investigation in an overnight burglary of a Waynesboro business.  At 7:30 a.m. today, officers responded to Dollar Tree, 2715 West Main Street for a report of a break in.

Sometime after 9:30 p.m. on August 3, 2014, assailants entered the store by prying open a rear door to the adjacent business space which is vacant and then accessing Dollar Tree.  A safe was taken from the business’ office.  Then the back loading dock entrance was forced open and the safe removed.  Store staff estimate that there was approximately $800 in the safe at the time.

Officers and detectives collected physical evidence left at the scene which will be sent off to the Department of Forensic Science.

Anyone with information in this incident is asked to call the Waynesboro Police Department at (540) 942-6675 or Central Shenandoah Crime Stoppers at 1(800)322-2017.  Information given to Crime Stoppers may be given anonymously.  Callers with information that lead to an arrest in this case are eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000.
