waynesboro Dakota Michael FixThe Waynesboro Police Department arrested a man Friday night after he fled from officers who had tracked him down to serve warrants on him.

Dakota Michael Fix, 21 years old, was wanted on two Waynesboro charges: Knowingly Possess Stolen Property, a felony, and a misdemeanor charge of Unlawful Entry.  The charges stem from a June 8th theft of over $5,000 of work tools from a local construction company.  Fix is also wanted in Florida by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office for theft charges.

On Friday at approximately 10 p.m., officers were able to track Fix to an area near the Waynesboro Public Library, 600 South Wayne Avenue.  There officers attempted to arrest Fix but he fled on foot.  After a short foot chase, officers apprehended Fix without further incident.  During the pursuit, Fix attempted to ditch a 9mm semi-automatic handgun.  Officers recovered it near the rear of the library.  Fix also had several rounds of ammunition in his possession.

Fix is being held at Middle River Regional Jail without bond.   Firearms charges from Waynesboro are pending.  Fix will likely face extradition to Florida after the Virginia charges are disposed of.
