Waynesboro Police Department hands out annual awards

IMG_0900 (2)The Waynesboro Police Department presented annual awards to several department members at its quarterly awards ceremony today.  Chief Mike Wilhelm presided over the awards.

The following awards were given:

Waynesboro Police Department’s Employee of the Year: Animal Control Officer Dee Price. Price has been employed with the City of Waynesboro since 1990.  She worked in the Emergency Operations Center before joining the Police Department in 2003.  Also, she serves as Treasurer of the Virginia Animal Control Association. 

Waynesboro Police Department’s Life Saving Medal: Officer Aaron Will.  On November 14, 2014, Officer Will responded to the Wilco Hess Convenience Store on East Main Street for a report of an unresponsive man.  Officer Will utilized the AED in his police vehicle and was able to defibrillate the patient.  Officer Will then performed CPR on the patient until his pulse and breathing resume.  The victim was subsequently transported to Augusta Health.

Police Department Commendation Ribbon

  • Sergeant Chris Hilliard*, Led the department in DUI arrests for 2014
  • Officer Shamica Spears**, 2 awards – Led the department in speed enforcement for 2014; Led the department in occupant protection enforcement for 2014
  • Corporal Todd Armentrout, outstanding performance during a residential burglary investigation in September 2014

* this is Sergeant  Hilliard’s  third consecutive year earning this award and sixth overall.
** this is Officer Spears’ third consecutive year earning the speed enforcement award.
