Viewpoints: Sixth District congressional candidate Kai Degner

viewpoints logoWe’d hoped that this week’s Viewpoints on WVPT would have been a debate between the two men running for the Sixth District seat in Congress.

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to coordinate schedules with the incumbent, Republican Bob Goodlatte.

Fortunately, we were able to secure the participation of Democrat Kai Degner, who will field our questions for the broadcast, airing Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

The interview, recorded Monday, included questions that we had prepared for the debate that we weren’t able to get to materialize.

We talk with Degner, a seven-year veteran of Harrisonburg City Council, about job creation in the Sixth District, traffic congestion on Interstate 81, which runs the length of the Sixth from Roanoke to Warren County, the Affordable Care Act, and how Democrats and Republicans in Washington can work to regain the trust of the American people.

We’ll have more from the interview later this week here on Augusta Free Press. Tomorrow night, you can come back here to AugustaFreePress.com for the YouTube link if you miss the WVPT broadcast.
