VDOT Culpeper District Traffic Alert: Aug. 18-22

road-work-headerThe following highway work is scheduled; weather permitting, in the Culpeper District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. Items in italics contain new or updated information.

Albemarle County

Paving operations on the following roads between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Motorists should anticipate minor delays. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers and pilot trucks.

  • Route 665 from Route 601 to Route 664
  • Route 664 from Route 604 to Route 743

Interstate 64 – Pavement marking eradication and patching. Alternating lane closures will occur overnight, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., in both directions between mile markers 116 and 126. Motorists should expect minor delays.

Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Pipe replacement at Route 643 (Polo Grounds Road). Northbound Route 29 traffic restricted to one lane at intersection, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Motorists should expect minor delays, reduce speed and follow traffic controls.

Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Pipe replacement at intersection of Route 1571 (Lewis & Clark Drive). Left-turn lane from Route 1571 to southbound Route 29 will be narrowed. Motorists should obey traffic controls.

Routes 250, 631, 635, 637, 780, 781, 802 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Routes 600, 606, 612, 614, 712, 722, 746, 766, 769, 808, 816 – Machining and grading gravel road. Motorists should be alert for slow-moving equipment working in the roadway; brief delays possible.

Routes 608, 614, 615, 640, 665 – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Route 627 (Frys Path) – Pipe replacement. Work will take place Aug. 18-22 with flaggers conducting traffic control.

Routes 671, 743 – Roadside ditching. Motorists should be alert and slow down for mobile work zones; brief delays possible.

Route 688 (Midway Road) – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing project. Motorists should be alert for construction equipment and workers as they approach the work zone; expect brief delays.

Route 708 (Dry Bridge Road) – Bridge replacement. Road closed with traffic detoured via Route 787 (Gillums Ridge Road). Anticipated completion September 2014.

 

Culpeper County

Route 15/29 (James Madison Highway) – Paving and line painting from just north of Route 663 (Stevensburg Road) to the Fauquier County line. Flagging will occur between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Motorists should use caution and expect brief delays.

Route 15/29 (James Madison Highway) – Bridge deck washing on the structure at the Fauquier County line overnight Sunday, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Flagging will occur; expect brief delays.

Routes 15, 15 Business, 29, 211, 229, 299, 522 – Line painting. Work will be done utilizing a mobile work zone. Motorists should use caution around slow-moving vehicles and pass only when conditions are safe.

Routes 229, 522, 647 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Routes 610, 662, 675, 676, 680, 688, 723, 724, 750, 753, 757 – Machining and grading gravel road. Motorists should be alert for slow-moving equipment working in the roadway; brief delays possible.

Routes 621, 625, 640, 646, 663, 666, 714, 802 – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Route 662 (Kibler Road) – Shoulder repair and roadside ditching. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Route 681 (Jacobs Ford Road) – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing project. Flagging will occur Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should expect brief delays.

Route 716 (Mountain Prospect Lane) – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing project. Flagging will occur Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should expect brief delays.

 

Town of Culpeper

Route 15/29 Business (Madison Highway) – Construction of roundabout at Route 229 (Main Street). A new traffic pattern is in effect using a temporary signal.

The northbound and southbound lanes will be limited to one lane of traffic within 1,000 feet of the intersection between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Motorists should expect minor delays, reduce speed and follow traffic controls.

Route 229 (Main Street) – Construction of roundabout at Route 15/29 Business (Madison Highway). A new traffic pattern is in effect.

Lane closures will occur from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. MondayThursday and 7 a.m. to 3:30

p.m. Friday. Motorists should expect minor delays, reduce speed and follow traffic controls.

 

Fauquier County

Interstate 66 westbound – Underdrain work from the Route 17 (Winchester Road) bridge to 0.9 mile west of the Route 245 ramp. Alternating lane closures will occur nightly from 9 p.m. to noon. Be alert for changes to the traffic pattern and expect brief delays.

Interstate 66 westbound – Underdrain work from mile marker 34.1 to the Route 55 (E. Main Street) bridge and from the Route 17 (Winchester Road) bridge to the Route 245 (Old Tavern Road) ramp. Alternating lane closures will occur nightly from 9 p.m. to noon. Be alert for changes to the traffic pattern and expect brief delays.

Routes 15 Business, 17 – Line painting. Work will be done utilizing a mobile work zone. Motorists should use caution around slow-moving vehicles and pass only when conditions are safe.

Route 15 (James Madison Highway) – Bridge deck washing on various structures, Aug. 18-20 overnight, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Flagging will occur; expect brief delays.

Routes 29, 55, 17, 245, 602, 605, 610, 611, 612, 617, 626, 643, 688, 690, 691, 721, 736 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Routes 610, 763 – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Routes 610, 616, 670, 676 – Pipe replacements. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Routes 626, 628 – Repairs to roadway shoulders and ditching. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zone and construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

Route 651 (Sumerduck Road) – Replacement of bridge over Sumerduck Run. Contractor making preparations for the upcoming closure of Rt. 651, including installation of detour signs and minor roadway improvements along detour route. Intermittent flagging will occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily. Bridge closure postponed until Thursday, Aug. 21.

Routes 714, 717, 719, 737, 739, 774, 780 – Machining and grading gravel roads. Motorists should be alert for slow-moving equipment working in the roadway; brief delays possible.

Route 723 (Ashville Road) – Tree removal. Road closed Aug. 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the vicinity of Route F-185 (Grove Lane). Motorists should use an alternate route.

Route 724 (Sage Road) – Repairs to railroad crossing. Road closed Aug. 18 just south of Route 55 (John Marshall Highway). Motorists should use an alternate route.

 

Fluvanna County

Route 6 (East River Road) – Replacement of the Rivanna River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area.

Route 6 (West River Road) – Replacement of the Hardware River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area.

Route 606 (Hells Bend Road) – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing project. Flagging will occur Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should expect brief delays.

 

Greene County

Paving operations on the following roads between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Motorists should anticipate minor delays. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers and pilot trucks.

  • Route 648 from Route 603 to Route 604
  • Route 633 from Route 810 to Route 604
  • Route 650 from 0.1 mile east of Route 810 to Route 810 intersection
  • Route 656 from Route 656 to end of state maintenance

Route 628 (Simmons Gap Road) – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Routes 636, 642 – Machining, grading and application of dust control on gravel roads. Motorists should be alert for slow-moving equipment working in the roadway; brief delays possible.

Route 639 (Saddleback Road) – Entrance pipe replacement. Flagging will occur during work hours.

Route 647 (McMullen Mill Road) – Bridge work approximately 0.1 mile west of Route 637 (South River Road). Road closed 9 a.m. to noon Monday, August 18, for paving, with no vehicular access during closure.

 

Louisa County

Route 22 (Louisa Road) – Pipe cleaning. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Route 612 (Halls Store Road) – Pipe replacement. Flagging will occur Aug. 18 between Route 33 (Spotswood Trail) and Route 716 (Garland Town Road). Motorists should expect minor delays.

Routes 613, 651, 693 – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Route 618 (Belsches Road) – Roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Routes 633, 709 – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing projects. Motorists should be alert for construction equipment and workers as they approach the work zone; expect brief delays.

Route 656 (Cedar Hill Road) – Pipe replacement. Flagging will occur Aug. 19 from Route 33 (Spotswood Trail) to Route 689 (Moorefield Road). Motorists should expect minor delays.

 

Madison County

Route 626 (Oneals Road) – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Route 9731 (Madison County High School entrance) – Milling, paving, striping and installation of shoulder stone. Flagging will occur daily 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Route 29 (Seminole Trail) to Route 687 (Fairground Road).

 

Orange County

Routes 15, 20, 719 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Routes 20, 647 – Repairs to roadway shoulders and roadside ditches. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zone and construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

Route 636 (River Road) – Pipe replacement. Road closed Aug. 18, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., from Route 626 (Bushy Mountain Road) to 1.5 miles north of Route 689 (Willis Bridge Road). Motorists should use an alternate route.

Route 1006 (High Street), Gordonsville – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

 

Rappahannock County

Route 231 (FT Valley Road) – Tree trimming. Flagging will occur. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Delays of 5-10 minutes are possible.

Routes 615, 616, 618, 649, 658, 681 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Route 615 (Castleton Ford Road) – Shoulder repairs and roadside ditching. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Route 626 (Tiger Valley Road) – Replacement of bridge over the Rush River. Road closed Aug. 7 through Sept. 18.Motorists should use the posted detour route: Route 211 (Lee Highway) to Route 622 (Rock Mills Road) to Route 621 (Hunters Road) and back to Route 626.
