road-work-headerThe VDOT Lexington Residency Office has announced its schedule for the application of Krenite S for brush control in Highland County this year. The following routes will have Krenite S applied from August 4 to August 15.

  • Route 610, from Route 678 to Route 609.
  • Route 614, from Route 616 to Route 613.
  • Route 618, from Route 614 north to 1.30 miles west of Route 614 north.
  • Route 621, from Route 636 to dead end.
  • Route 624, from Route 617 to 2.30 miles west of Route 617.
  • Route 640, from Route 642 to Route 637.
  • Route 678, from Route 609 to Bath County Line.

All of the locations listed may not be covered due to weather conditions and budget.

Krenite S is different from other brush control chemicals. Treated vegetation with Krenite S does not usually show any immediate affects; rather it does not produce foliage the following spring.

Krenite S applications are made in order to ensure the safety of those traveling on state-maintained roadways and to maintain the integrity of highway assets.  These herbicide applications also reduce maintenance costs and reduce mowing frequency.
