UVA announces 2014-2015 women’s basketball schedule

uva-logo-new2The Atlantic Coast Conference announced today (Sept. 9) the league’s women’s basketball schedule for the 2014-15 season. UVA  will face each of the 14 conference opponents during the 16-game league schedule. The Cavaliers will play six opponents solely at home, six only on the road and two opponents, Virginia Tech and conference-newcomer Louisville, in home-and-away series.

Wake Forest, Boston College, Georgia Tech, NC State, Duke, Florida State, Virginia Tech and Louisville will come to John Paul Jones Arena.

Virginia will travel to Virginia Tech, Syracuse, Louisville, Miami, Clemson, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and North Carolina.

Additionally, Virginia will play nine non-conference home games including hosting the annual Cavalier Classic Tournament, presented by Holiday Inn University Area, Dec. 28-29 at John Paul Jones Arena. This season, the tournament features Davidson, Drexel and Miami (Ohio).

Other non-conference opponents playing in Charlottesville this season include the home opener against Ohio State onNov. 14 and games against Radford, Auburn, Delaware State, Longwood, Saint Mary’s and Howard.

UVa’s road schedule also features a Thanksgiving tournament at Florida International in Miami, Fla., that will include two games against Toledo, Arizona and/or FIU. The Cavaliers also play at Xavier on Thursday, Nov. 20. It was previously announced that UVa is playing at Illinois on Wednesday, Dec. 3 in the Big Ten-ACC Challenge game.

The schedule features six regular-season games that will be broadcast. Virginia’s road contests at Louisville and North Carolina as well as home games against Florida State and Louisville will air on the ACC Regional Sports Networks. Additionally, the road games at Clemson and Notre Dame will be streamed on ESPN3.

Team Highlights

Virginia returns seven letterwinners, including the 2014 ACC Sixth Player of the Year, Faith Randolph, from last year’s team that advanced to the second round of the ACC Tournament. The Cavaliers also have a recruiting class ranked in the top 15 nationally that includes guards Aliyah Huland El (Randolph, N.J./Randolph High School) and Mikayla Venson (Arlington, Va./Yorktown High School) and a pair of forwards in Lauren Moses (Mount Holly, N.J./Rancocas Valley High School) and Jae’Lisa Allen (Pine Bluff, Ark./White Hall High School).

Season Ticket Information

All lower level seats in John Paul Jones Arena are reserved for women’s basketball games with the exception of the bleacher seats (sections 116-119) and section 108.  Section 108 will be reserved for UVA Health System Hoos members during the season. Reserved season tickets are $100, while reserved season tickets for youth, seniors, and UVa faculty and staff are $75.

General admission season tickets are $85, $65 for youth, seniors, and UVa faculty and staff. General admission seating is available in the lower level bleachers and in any upper level section.

All courtside season tickets are $150 for the women’s basketball season.

Women’s basketball season ticket holders receive numerous benefits for the 2014-15 season, including savings of up to 56 percent off single game ticket prices. All season ticket holders receive a reserved parking permit for parking in the John Paul Jones Arena lot and are eligible to win prizes through an attendance rewards program. Several pre-season events including a Meet the Team Day and open practice will be scheduled for October or early November, and season ticket holders will receive invitations to each of them.

Health System Hoos Ticket Information

A Health System Hoos season ticket is available to be purchased by UVA Health System staff. Seating for Health System Hoos members will once again be in section 108 for the 2014-15 season. UVA Health System employees interested in purchasing a season ticket in this location should contact the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office.

RSN Broadcasts

 

RSN, which reaches in excess of 51.4 million homes and includes Fox Sports South, Fox Sports Carolinas, Fox Sports Florida, Sun Sports, Fox Sports Indiana, Fox Sports Midwest, Comcast Sports Net Mid-Atlantic, New England Sports Network (NESN), the YES Network, the Madison Square Garden Network (MSG) in New York and Root Sports in Pennsylvania. All ACC games produced as part of the RSN package will be available via WatchESPN, but are subject to regional blackout.
