Two new polls have McAuliffe up in governor’s race

state-capitol2Two new polls out Friday have Democrat Terry McAuliffe leading Republican Ken Cuccinelli and Libertarian Robert Sarvis in the Virginia governor’s race.

A University of Mary Washington poll has McAuliffe at 42 percent, with Cuccinelli at 35 percent and Sarvis at 10 percent. A Hampton University poll has McAuliffe at 42 percent, Cuccinelli at 37 percent and Sarvis at 8 percent.

The UMW poll has Democratic Party lieutenant governor nominee Ralph Northam leading Republican nominee E.W. Jackson by a 39 percent-35 percent margin, while the Hampton U. poll has Jackson with a narrow 39 percent-to-38 percent lead.

Republican Mark Obenshain has the lead in the attorney general race in both polls over Democrat Mark Herring – 42 percent to 36 percent in the Mary Washington poll, and 41 percent to 37 percent in the HU poll.
