Lynchburg falls 2-1
Another pitchers’ duel ensured and again the Hillcats were on the wrong end by a score of 2-1. Jake Petricka and Aaron Northcraft went pitch-for-pitch, but it was Brady Shoemaker’s RBI single in the 8th that was the difference in the Winston-Salem win.
After last last’s pitcher’s duel with a pair of top prospects on the mound, the Hillcats had the tall order of facing the Chicago White Sox’s number four prospect, Jake Petricka. While Aaron Northcraft hasn’t had the fan faire of Petricka, he certainly looked every bit as stellar. Read more

Cats run over Dash, 7-1
The Hillcats put their foot on the gas from the very beginning in their 7-1 victory over the Winston-Salem Dash. The Dash entered with the league’s best record, but the Hillcats scored a run in six of the eight innings with an at-bat. Matt Lipka’s three RBIs lead the team.

Boston’s first-round pick dazzles against Dash
Matt Barnes flashed his fastball, commanded his curve, mixed in his change, and never once looked overwhelmed in his first Advanced-A opportunity.
With 12 strikeouts in six innings, Barnes tossed 70 of his 92 pitches for strikes in Salem’s 6-4 victory over Winston-Salem on Saturday night at BB&T Ballpark. The Dash scored a single run against Barnes in the last of the sixth, but with multiple runners aboard, he picked up his 11th and 12th punchouts consecutively, finishing off Winston’s cleanup man Dan Black with a breaking-ball on his 92nd and final pitch of the night.
