A late VMI flurry fell short, as the Gardner-Webb Runnin’ Bulldogs defeated the Keydets 92-84 in a Big South contest at Cameron Hall Saturday evening.
Trailing by nine with 1:08 to play, a three-point play by Michael Sparks cut the GWU lead to six, 84-78. After two free throws by the visitors, Ron Burks hit a three-pointer to reduce the margin to five, and an Austin Kenon trey with 31 seconds left pulled the Keydets within three. Two C.J. Hailey free throws made it a five-point game again, and Grayson Flittner intercepted a cross-court pass with 19 seconds to go to cement the Runnin’ Bulldogs win. Read more

Presbyterian College outscored VMI in overtime 20-6 and snapped a ten-game losing streak with a 89-75 Big South win over the Keydets Saturday night at Templeton Arena.
VMI appeared well on its way to securing its first road win of the year at the outset, but squandered 17-point leads in both the first and second halves to drop its sixth straight game. Read more

Reggie Williams, the Keydets’ all-time leading scorer and 2008 graduate of VMI, has been named NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played during the week of Dec. 21.
Williams led Sioux Falls to a 2-0 record last week, including two home victories over the Springfield Armor. Read more
