Groh: Hall will start … at punt returner

Still no word on who Virginia will be starting at quarterback Saturday in the season opener at home against William & Mary. But we do now know that Vic Hall will be returning punts.

UVa. names football captains

Virginia football coach Al Groh announced today the captains for the 2009 season. The players, selected by a team vote this week, are OT Will Barker (Bryn Mawr, Pa.), LB Denzel Burrell (South Orange, N.J.), LB Aaron Clark (Fairfield, Va.), DT Nate Collins (Port Chester, N.Y.), CB Chris Cook (Lynchburg, Va.) and QB Vic Hall (Gretna, Va.). Trying to get a read on the ’09 Cavs

Barack Obama rode the change we need to the White House. Al Groh will have to see some change indeed to keep his job.

Tech picked to win ACC, UVa. slotted fifth in Coastal

Hall at QB? And more from Groh on the eve of spring practice

Vic Hall was a record-setting quarterback in high school, and his numbers – 13,770 total yards, 166 touchdowns – had Virginia fans salivating at the prospect of what he could do in the ACC. A surprise start at QB in the season finale at Virginia Tech last November that pushed the Cavs to the brink of an upset of the eventual Orange Bowl champions got the message boards going about why he had been used at corner primarily his first three years in Charlottesville, but it did something else for coach Al Groh.
