More attrition: Jones leaving UVa.
Edited by Chris Graham

Junior guard Jeff Jones has told Virginia basketball coach Tony Bennett that he plans to transfer at the end of the current semester.
Jones started seven games for UVa. in 2009-2010 and averaged 7.3 points and 1.3 rebounds per game. In his three years in Charlottesville, Jones, a highly-touted high-school recruit, averaged 6.2 points and 1.6 rebounds per game.
“Jeff informed me on Sunday that he would be transferring,” Bennett said. “Although I’m surprised, I’m not shocked and wish Jeff well in the future. Every player is entitled to do what he thinks is best for his future. Jeff obviously believes that is not UVa., and if a player feels that way it will not benefit him or the team.”

Losing 10 of the last 11, then losing star sophomore Sylven Landesberg and heralded freshman Tristan Spurlock, has pushed some in Wahoo Nation to the brink of wanting to maybe re-evaluate the ol’ relationship.
But the cool Bennett is taking things to that end in stride. Continue reading “Bennett: ‘You have to protect the program’” »
