Theater at Lime Kiln will host open auditions for actors on Thursday, March 18th, at 6:30 p.m. at the Johnson Theatre at the Lenfest Center for the Arts on West Nelson Street in Lexington.
This season, Lime Kiln is planning to produce three musicals, including the 50th anniversary of The Fantasticks and Stonewall Country, which Lime Kiln resurrected last season.
Lime Kiln is collaborating with Mindbending Productions, the student theatre troupe from Washington and Lee, to produce the first show. Senior Jenna Worsham, who is currently directing Ah, Wilderness! at W&L, has signed on to direct The Fantastick. The very-active Josh Harvey is slated to be music director. Rehearsals begin April 12, and the show runs May 20-23. Continue reading “Lime Kiln announces spring auditions” »
Lime Kiln readying for premiere of Dracula
Casting is complete, and rehearsals have begun for Dracula, or How’s Your Blood Count? presented by Theater at Lime Kiln on Sept. 24-26. Long time Lime Kiln actor Tom Conway, who recently appeared in the return weekend of Stonewall Country, directs.
Conway, a professional actor and director from Chattanooga, Tenn., says this will be the craziest comedy ever to hit Lime Kiln. “This is British farce. Nothing is sacred, and with the talent we have involved in this, the funny meter just keeps rising,” said Conway. “Mark Cline is both scary as Dracula one moment, and the next I am rolling out of my seat. Rob Mish is just plain wicked funny. And we just started. I can’t wait for the next rehearsal, to see what they will come up with next!” Continue reading “Lime Kiln readying for premiere of Dracula” »
Labor Day weekend at Lime Kiln
The Labor Day concert tradition returns to Theater at Lime Kiln on Sunday, Sept. 6, with Blues, Bluegrass and Barbeque. The evening festival begins at 6 p.m., featuring local blues band Honest Labor, solo blues artist Scott Ainslie, and Brennan Gilmore’s bluegrass band Walker’s Run.
Lime Kiln executive director Kim Renz says this is another way Lime Kiln is working with artists from the area and touring artists to create unique events for the community. “This festival is different than our spring MusicFest in many ways. We have three acts over four hours, and while all three have connections to Rockbridge County, the event also sports a regional and national flavor.”
