Shakespeare, Smith Center announce partnership

The American Shakespeare Center and R.R. Smith Center for History and Art announce an exciting partnership beginning in July, when the ASC moves into the fourth floor of the R.R. Smith Center.

This move is a significant indicator of the ongoing partnerships between the arts and culture non-profits in Staunton.  Beginning July 1, the Smith Center will be home to the Augusta County Historical Society, the Historic Staunton Foundation, the Staunton August Arts Center and the American Shakespeare Center. SCCF welcomes new director, new grant

Following a two month search process, the Staunton Creative Community Fund is pleased to welcome Christina Cain to Staunton, who will begin as SCCF’s new executive director effective May 21.

Following on the heels of that announcement, SCCF also signed a contract with the Staunton Economic Development Authority to implement a $95,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to launch a new local entrepreneurship development program. Read more

How should CAPSAW spend its money?  The Community Action Partnership of Staunton, Augusta and Waynesboro is accepting Needs Surveys from area residents.

Staunton Augusta Art Center to unveil new exhibition

The Staunton Augusta Art Center announces a new, collaborative art exhibition titled Art: The Path to Recovery which opens Sunday, May 6, 1-3 P.M., in the second floor lecture hall/gallery of the R. R. Smith Center for History and Art at 20 S. New Street in historic downtown Staunton.  The juried artwork is by consumers of mental health services.    Read more

Comic-book store marks re-opening

Short Box has its grand re-opening at its new address on May 5, which is also Free Comic Book Day.

The shop will open at 106 E. Beverley St., Staunton, the previous location of the cigar shop, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, with a wide array of family fun and activities that will run until 2 p.m. Read more
