Bethune-Cookman takes two at NSU
Visiting Bethune-Cookman scored nine unanswered runs to rally for a 10-7 win in game one, then jumped out early and cruised to a 12-5 victory in game two to sweep a doubleheader from Norfolk State on Saturday at Marty L. Miller Field.
The Spartans (14-20, 6-4 MEAC) jumped out to a 7-1 lead after five innings of the opener, but couldn’t keep the opportunistic Wildcats (21-17, 8-0) at bay. Read more
Spartans take two from Coppin State
John Lynch had five hits and six runs batted in, and Ryan Montgomery and James Taylor also had five hits apiece as Norfolk State swept a doubleheader from Coppin State Sunday at Joe Cannon Stadium, 15-2 and 9-2.
Lynch knocked in three runs in each game for the Spartans, who improved to 10-16 overall and 3-1 in the MEAC. Lynch went 5-for-11 and Montgomery 5-for-9 for NSU, which had 16 hits in both games. The 16 hits are a season high. Read more
Tribe holds off NSU rally

William & Mary jumped out to a 4-0 lead, then held off a late-inning charge from host Norfolk State to take a 6-5 victory on Wednesday afternoon at Marty L. Miller Field.
The Tribe (11-13) led 4-0 after the top of the fourth, but NSU (7-14) rallied to get within 6-5 in the later innings. The Tribe win wasn’t secure until W&M reliever Brett Koehler dodged a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the ninth. Read more
Norfolk State drops twinbill to Longwood

Scott Burkett had three hits and three RBI in the opener, and host Longwood recorded 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning of the nightcap to propel the Lancers to a sweep of a baseball doubleheader with Norfolk State, 7-4 and 11-0, on Tuesday afternoon at Buddy Bolding Stadium.
The Spartans drop to 5-7 with the losses, while Longwood is now 10-5. Read more
Norfolk State sweeps Hofstra
Norfolk State junior right hander Ryan Shook pitched a complete game in a 3-2 Spartans’ win in game 1, then NSU rallied to win the nightcap 5-4 on Kevin Curd’s walk-off double in the bottom of the eighth as the Spartans swept Hofstra on Saturday afternoon at Marty L. Miller Field.
Curd, who entered the nightcap in the top of the eighth as a defensive replacement, lined a two-strike pitch from Stephan Kungl (0-2) down the left-field line into the corner. Sammy Serafine, who singled with two outs and no one on base, just slid across the plate ahead of the relay throw as the Spartans (5-5) completed the sweep. Read more

B-CU improves to 22-17 overall, 9-0 in the MEAC while NSU falls to 14-21, 6-5.
As they did in game two on Saturday, the Wildcats struck early and strung together multiple big innings. B-CU scratched across an unearned run in the first as Paul Biocic walked, stole two bases and scored on an NSU error for a 1-0 Wildcats’ lead. Read more
