Signer looking ahead to political future

I caught up yesterday with Mike Signer, and realize even more now what I like about the guy who I endorsed in his unsuccessful bid to become the Democratic Party lieutenant-governor nominee.
“I’m just calling to say thanks for all of your hard work, and to get your input on what you think I ought to be doing next,” said Signer, who told me that he’s planning to get involved with the Creigh Deeds gubernatorial effort this fall as one way of staying busy, but as for his next step, well … Continue reading “Signer looking ahead to political future” »

Vindication – Deeds takes Democratic nomination in dramatic fashion

When Creigh Deeds announced his candidacy for the 2009 Democratic Party gubernatorial nomination back in December 2007, it was not exactly with the full support of the Democratic Party decisionmaking set. The whispers at the time and for months after were that party leaders had been trying to persuade Deeds to make another run at the attorney-general job to clear the way for Northern Virginia lawmaker and Mark Warner acolyte Brian Moran to run for governor. McAuliffe, Signer, Marrow

It’s time we get past the divisions that we’ve allowed to hold us back the past several years in Richmond and get Virginia moving forward, and most importantly get our economy moving forward. That’s why I’m endorsing in the Tuesday, June 9, primary Terry McAuliffe for governor, Mike Signer for lieutenant governor and Greg Marrow for the 25th House District Democratic Party nomination. And then there were two – Bowerbank suspends LG campaign

I’m not sure what to make of the news that Jon Bowerbank has decided to drop out of the race for the Democratic Party lieutenant-governor nomination.
My first instinct is to say I’m surprised given that the most recent public polls had in the area of 70 percent of the expected June 9 primary electorate still undecided with three weeks and change to go to the opening of the polls. Poll has McAuliffe separating from Democratic pack

Another poll has Terry McAuliffe opening up a double-digit lead in the race for the Democratic Party gubernatorial nomination. This time it’s Public Policy Polling, which on March 31 had former Northern Virginian state lawmaker Brian Moran two points ahead of McAuliffe among likely Democratic Party primary voters. Wagner, Signer miss key points on restoration of voting rights

The race you’ve heard almost nothing about is starting to heat up, and yeah, it’s getting ugly between two of the Democratic Party lieutenant-governor candidates, and on a sensitive social issue that we highlighted in a recent edition of our New Dominion Magazine.
