Maury River Senior Center Offers Self-Defense Classes
Maury River Senior Center will offer “Don’t Be a Victim – Defend Yourself!”, a five-week course in the fundamentals of self-defense. Classes will be taught by Tiffany Lee. Lee has 20 years of martial arts experience, and is certified to teach Systema, a Russian martial art. Classes will meet on Thursdays from 4-5pm, beginning May 16 and concluding June 13.
MRSC Mobile Information Station Schedule for May
The Mobile Information Station is a service of Valley Program for Aging Services to bring information about resources, and benefits to Rockbridge hometowns for residents aged 60 and older. VPAS Outreach Coordinator Debbie Branham, accompanied by Maury River Senior Center staff, will visit the following locations in November. MIS hours at all locations are 10am until 2pm; no appointment is needed.
Maury River Senior Center to Begin Western Party Dance Series
The first evening activity designed for those 60 and older will begin at Maury River Senior Center this month. The Western Dance Party Series is a beginning class in Country and Western couples dancing. Absolutely no experience is necessary.

VDOT awards $2.4M project for new Route 60 bridge in Lexington
A contract valued at $2.4 million was awarded to Fairfield-Echols LLC of Fishersville for the construction of the East Nelson Street (Route 60) bridge in the City of Lexington. The contract was awarded by Virginia Department of Transportation Commissioner Greg Whirley on Jan. 8.
