And then there were two – Bowerbank suspends LG campaign
I’m not sure what to make of the news that Jon Bowerbank has decided to drop out of the race for the Democratic Party lieutenant-governor nomination.
My first instinct is to say I’m surprised given that the most recent public polls had in the area of 70 percent of the expected June 9 primary electorate still undecided with three weeks and change to go to the opening of the polls. Read more
Poll has McAuliffe separating from Democratic pack
Another poll has Terry McAuliffe opening up a double-digit lead in the race for the Democratic Party gubernatorial nomination. This time it’s Public Policy Polling, which on March 31 had former Northern Virginian state lawmaker Brian Moran two points ahead of McAuliffe among likely Democratic Party primary voters. Read more
Edmonson out, now a three-way race for LG nod
The Democratic Party lieutenant governor field is now one candidate smaller. “As I have worked these past months to communicate my message to voters, I have also had an opportunity to learn more about the three colleagues who were also seeking the Democratic nomination for lieutenant governor. While all three are good people, over time I became convinced that Mike Signer is a true talent whose ability to communicate about issues that matter to real people is unmatched in the remaining field,” said Pat Edmonson, who on Friday dropped out of the race and threw her support to Signer, 36, a former deputy counselor to Mark Warner and senior strategist on Tom Perriello’s improbable 2008 Fifth District congressional upset win. Moran, Wagner take leads in pre-primary polls
Brian Moran has moved into the lead in the governor’s race, and Jody Wagner seems to be running away in the battle for the Democratic Party lieutenant-governor nomination, in a new Public Policy Polling survey out Tuesday.

McAuliffe, Moran neck and neck in new poll
Terry McAuliffe has a slight lead in a new poll measuring support in the race for the 2009 Democratic Party gubernatorial nomination, but Brian Moran is within the statistical margin of error, and Creigh Deeds is not that far behind.
The poll conducted by Public Policy Polling over the weekend has McAuliffe, a former Democratic National Committee chair, at 21 percent, with Moran, a former state delegate from Northern Virginia, at 19 percent. Deeds, a Bath County state senator, was at 14 percent in the poll, which surveyed 647 likely Democratic Party primary voters and has a margin of error of +- 3.9 percent. Read more
