JMU-Radford ends in 3-3 tie
James Madison and Radford battled to a 3-3 tie through five innings before rain and lightning delayed and ultimately ended the non-conference baseball contest on Tuesday evening at the RU Baseball Field.
JMU actually took the lead in the top of the sixth on an RBI single by freshman Aaron Hoover (Centreville, Va./Westfield) before the game went into the delay. With the game unable to resume, by rule any runs in an incomplete inning that affect the outcome are negated, resulting in the 3-3 tie. Read more
JMU drops finale to George Mason
George Mason posted two unearned runs in the eighth inning on an infield single and a wild pitch to rally past James Madison 6-5 to clinch the Colonial Athletic Association baseball series Sunday afternoon at Eagle Field at Veterans Memorial Park.
GMU improved to 30-17 overall and 15-9 in the CAA while winning its sixth straight league series. JMU fell to 15-29-1 overall and 9-15 in the league while dropping its first series in the last four. The Dukes had won seven of nine conference games entering the weekend. Read more
JMU evens series with Mason
Sophomore Conner Brown (Richmond, Va./Godwin) had three hits with two triples and James Madison’s freshman tandem of Michael Howerton (Chesterfield, Va./Matoaca) and Aaron Hoover (Centreville, Va./Westfield) combined to limit George Mason to one earned run in a 5-2 win in the second game of a Colonial Athletic Association baseball series on Saturday night at Eagle Field at Veterans Memorial Park.
JMU improved to 15-28-1 overall and 9-14 in the CAA while GMU fell to 29-17 overall, 14-9 in the league. The game included a 46-minute lightning delay in the middle of the seventh inning. Read more
JMU wastes stellar pitching effort, falls to Mason, 3-2
George Mason scored unearned runs in the fifth and eighth and overcame being limited to two hits in the game to defeat James Madison 3-2 in the opener of a Colonial Athletic Association baseball series on Friday night at Eagle Field at Veterans Memorial Park.
GMU improved to 29-16 overall and 14-8 in the CAA as the Patriots look for their sixth straight conference series win. JMU dropped to 14-28-1 overall and 8-14 in the conference with the Dukes needing a pair of wins to record their fourth straight series win. Read more
JMU wins in 13 over VMI
In a back and forth contest, the James Madison Dukes saw Casey Goss single home a run in the 13th inning, giving JMU a 5-4 win over the VMI Keydets Wednesday night at Gray-Minor Stadium.
Cole McInturff led off the 13th with a walk against VMI’s Reed Garrett (2-3). He was then bunted to second by Tyler Duke, and the next batter, Goss, hit a 1-1 pitch up the middle to score the eventual winning run. Ben Garner (1-2) retired the side in order in the 13th to pick up the victory for the visiting Dukes. Read more
Liberty routs JMU, 12-1
Five different players drove in two runs each and Liberty scored twice each in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to take command en route to a 12-1 victory over James Madison on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference baseball game at Eagle Field at Veterans Memorial Park.
LU improved to 33-12 overall and swept the three-game season series against the Dukes after having lost nine of the last 10 head-to-head games entering the season. JMU fell to 13-27-1. Read more
JMU, Hofstra split wild twinbill
James Madison and Hofstra combined for 62 runs and 59 hits during seven and a half hours of offensive baseball as the teams split a doubleheader with JMU taking game one 20-14 and HU claiming the finale 15-13 in Colonial Athletic Association action on Saturday afternoon at University Field.
JMU improved to 13-26-1 overall and won its third straight CAA series to improve to 8-13 in the conference. HU now stands at 21-17 overall and 11-7 in the CAA. The Pride had started the year 9-0 at home before dropping two out of three to the Dukes. Read more
