Chris Graham: Not all that enthusiastic about Obama

And it’s not that hard for me to admit, actually. And no, I won’t be voting for Mitt Romney, or a third-party candidate, or sitting out the election altogether.

But still, I wish I could vote for another candidate for president this November. My first choice would be Mark Warner, a close second Hillary Clinton, but the way these contests work, they won’t be running.

My lack of enthusiasm isn’t because I think Barack Obama has done a bad job. it’s that I expected him to do a much better job, which of course was a pipe dream, in retrospect. Read more

What Would Hillary Do?

Interesting numbers today from Gallup, which has Hillary Clinton running strong in a hypothetical 2012 primary challenge to President Barack Obama.

The 52 percent-37 percent margin is interesting to me because … I’ve wondered what I would do if Clinton were to mount a nomination challenge.

The obstacles faced by Obama and his team have no doubt been great, but that said, I’m not sure that Obama has grown into the leader that he needs to be giving the challenges being faced by the country.

He sold voters in 2008 on vision, but the key criticism I would offer two years later is that his presidency has largely lacked vision, at the expense of political expediency, at which he has proven, from looking at the results, to be less than adept at.

Former DNC chair considering run for governor in ’09

Terry McAuliffe for governor. Of Virginia. Seriously. And he knows what he’s talking about.
“What I’ve been doing is I’ve been going out and asking questions. Here are my ideas for where I’d like to see the Commonwealth go. What do you think? What are your ideas? Because as I’ve said from day one, I don’t think all the great ideas come out of Richmond,” McAuliffe said Monday night in Waynesboro – yes, Waynesboro, far removed from Northern Virginia, nowhere near the Golden Crescent, gauging interest among Democratic voters on a cold November night in the bright red Shenandoah Valley, going against convention in doing so. White House ’08: ‘Hillary Sent Me!’ rallies Clinton supporters to Obama-Biden

Story by Chris Graham
freepress2@ntelos.net

Hillary Clinton is rallying her supporters to back the Barack Obama-Joe Biden ticket and other Democrats in key congressional races across the country.

“We always knew that we would have a tough election, that it would be close, and it’s critical that no matter who you supported in the primary, Democrats come together along with like-minded Independents and even Republicans who want to change our country,” Clinton said on a conference call with grassoots supporters yesterday to announce the initiation of the “Hillary Sent Me!” call-to-action program. “I am especially excited to get everyone together to make the positive case on behalf of our ticket of Barack Obama and Joe Biden and to defeat the McCain Palin ticket. We especially need to send more Democrats to the Congress, especially to the Senate,” Clinton said.

The “Hillary Sent Me!” program is online at www.hillpac.com.

“As we continue to read the headlines about our troubled economy, the stakes of this election only get higher. Today I am asking all of you to hit the phones, hit the road and spread the word that we must elect Barack Obama President and we must send a filibuster-proof majority to Congress,” Clinton said.

“This is a call to action. We all have a role. And there is not a moment to lose,” Clinton said. “Tell them that Hillary sent you.”
